Christi Venable, NCC, LPC, LCPC: CEO, Founder and Lead Therapist of SMILE Therapy Services LLC. Christi was born and raised in the District of Columbia. She is the oldest of five girls and was raised in a single parent household. Christi attended The Pennsylvania State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management with minors in Psychology and International Business. Christi attended George Washington University where she obtained her Masters of Education and Human Development in School Counseling. Christi is a Licensed Professional Counselor (DC, MD and VA) and has over 7 years of experience providing mental health services to youth and adults. She specializes in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and the family unit. She has a passion for educating individuals especially minorities on the importance of maintaining a healthy mental health.
Dr. Saundra Lynch Ervin, LCPC, NCC, CEAP: A full-time therapist with SMILE Therapy Services LLC and was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest state of Oregon. She relocated to the DMV to attend graduate school at Howard University and Trinity Washington University subsequently earning a master's degree in Counseling. Dr.Ervin continued her educational journey at Morgan State University where she earned a doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration. She has worked in the field of counseling and academia for several years. Dr. Ervin believes that every individual has a story to tell, every story has its' own challenges, and every challenge has a resolution in the therapeutic journey.
Diane Placide, LGPC: A full-time Therapist with SMILE Therapy Services LLC was born and raised in Prince Georges County, Maryland by way of Haiti. Diane earned her Bachelor's in Psychology from Towson University, and a Master of Education in School Psychology and Counseling services from Howard University. Diane is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. Diane has a strong passion in empowering youth to achieve their full potential and believes that focusing on resilience and assets rather than solely focusing on a student's deficit helps promote positive self-concepts.
Amanda Watson, LPC: A full-time therapist with SMILE Therapy Services, LLC. Originally from Illinois, Amanda earned her B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services from DePaul University in Chicago. Amanda went on to receive an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC with a focus in Trauma Intervention. Amanda has been practicing therapy primarily with youth for about three years in Washington, DC. Amanda has recently welcomed the opportunity to also serve adults as well as youth in order to help a broader range of individuals empower themselves to celebrate resilience and enact meaningful change in their lives.
Donque Cochran,LCSW, LICSW, CSAC: A part time therapist with SMILE Therapy Services LLC. Originally from North Carolina, Mr. Cochran is a graduate of Virginia State University with a BA in Psychology, and a Masters of Social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor with over 10 years of experience. Donque has a passion for helping children and adults progress with their mental health challenges.
Waltrina Stancell, NCC, LPC, LCPC, CAC II, NCAC II: A part-time Therapist with SMILE Therapy Services LLC was born and raised in the District of Columbia. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Substance Abuse Counselor with over 8 years of experience. Waltrina is passionate about working with children and using fun, and innovative interventions to process feelings, develop behavior management skills, and build solid therapeutic relationships to inspire change.
